Fred’s Plumbing & Heating’s Holiday Challenge was a HUGE success!
On December 7th, Fred Oeschger of Fred’s Plumbing & Heating challenged the community to donate to two local charities, the NECKA Food Shelf and Vermont National Guard Families and Fred’s Plumbing & Heating would match up to $5000.
In 3 short weeks, the community came together- Jeff & Tracey Poulin & family offered a similar challenge up to $5000; an anonymous donation of $5000 and Beth & Dave Bouffard of Derby Village Store donated $1000, their grocery supplier, Associated Grocers donated $1000 AND offered all foods at cost to NECKA, plus the community was able to generously donate $3281 for a total of $20,281.
Paul Denton, Executive Director for NECKA was thrilled with the check for $14,281, “Our only source of funding is through donations so this is really important. We have seen many new faces at NECKA this year and this will helps tremendously. Our community as a whole, has came forward with a huge outpouring of support. I am so proud to be a part of this community”
The National Guard received $6000 to help support families who have someone serving abroad. Jan Eastman of Passumpsic, Vermont gave a very generous donation to the Vt. National Guard and said “Anything we can do to support these men & women serving our country, we will gladly participate in.” |
